NBA Rankings - 23 Nov

San Antonio maintained its pace this week, matching Indiana for the league's best record while doing it against tougher opponents, which kept the Spurs in the top spot for another week. They only played twice this week, beating Boston and Memphis, but they have not lost in 3 weeks, and that loss was at Portland, the #6 team in my rankings. Here are my full rankings, along with each team's final predicted record and playoff seeding:

Miami moved up to #2 this week as they seek to reestablish themselves as the team to beat in the East, and while I still have Indiana picked to finish with a better record than the Heat, I still think Miami would represent the East in the Finals for the 4th straight season with LeBron James on board. Miami has won 5 straight and 8 of 9, both best in the East.

Golden State has started to falter after their hot start, which had them ranked #1 just 2 weeks ago, going just 2-2 this week, which is less impressive when you notice that both wins came against Utah. They lost at home to Memphis, which has struggled to play up to their potential so far, then lost at the Kobe-less Lakers last night. Hopefully their struggles can be explained away by Stephen Curry's injury, which kept him out of both losses.

Orlando continued to slide this week, dropping from a high rank of #3 two weeks ago to #22 this week, the result of a 1-4 record over that stretch. Despite the fact that the Magic are now projected to win only 34 games this season, they are still likely to make the playoffs in the East, where only 5 teams have winning records, while 3 winning teams in the West will likely be left home.
