College Football Rankings - 10 Nov

Oregon lost a close game to Stanford for the second straight season, ruining their chance at making the national title game once again and costing them the top spot in this week's rankings. Of the 6 remaining undefeated teams, 4 are among the top 6 in my current rankings, and most have a pretty easy path remaining to finish without a loss. Here are my full rankings for this week:

Florida State has taken over the top spot, leapfrogging Baylor by winning their 9th straight game, 8 of which came by at least 28 points. The Seminoles also saw their odds of going undefeated reach 100% this week, as Florida, their toughest remaining opponent, is sinking fast, and Miami, the team most likely to dethrone them in the conference title game, has given up since losing to FSU last week. The Noles will play in the BCS title game this year.

Auburn is climbing fast, moving up to #12 this week, and they are looking forward to hosting rival Alabama to close the season with the SEC West title on the line. If the Tigers fail to beat the Tide, Alabama would still have to beat another team of Tigers (Missouri) to make their 3rd straight title game, and there's a pretty good chance that they lose in one of those games.

The top team with a losing record in this week's rankings is Utah, who is at #20 despite a 4-5 mark so far. The thing that is keeping them that high is their incredible strength of schedule, #1 is the nation, in which every FBS opponent is currently ranked in my top 35. Their biggest loss was at USC last week, which was by 16 points, but their biggest win, by 6 over Stanford, cancels that one out. They also beat in-state rivals Utah State and BYU, both of which are in the top 25. Luckily for the Utes, they close the season with conference doormats Washington State and Colorado, so they should still end up making a bowl game.
