NFL Rankings - 15 Sep

There were several big surprises over the weekend in the NFL, and as a result there has been a huge shakeup in the rankings, with 3 new teams in the top 10, including a couple teams that haven't made the playoffs in a long time. Here are my full rankings after one week:

The Cincinnati Bengals moved into the top spot after they completely destroyed the Oakland Raiders on the road Sunday. The Raiders were supposed to be on the rise, and the Bengals were picked by most to miss the playoffs, but they led Oakland 33-0 after 3 quarters before allowing a couple of TD's in garbage time. They have one of the best receivers in AJ Green, a great young running back in Jeremy Hill, and a tight end showing signs of joining the elite ranks in Tyler Eifert, along with a quarterback who has never missed the playoffs.

The San Francisco 49ers made a huge move after last night's demolition of the Minnesota Vikings, surprising everyone by posting a huge win despite losing their coach and several starters in the offseason from a team that missed the playoffs. It helps when you have Carlos Hyde, who ran for 168 yards and 2 touchdowns in his first start, best in the league for the opening weekend.

The Rams also made a big move this week after surprising the Seattle Seahawks, who are the two-time defending NFC champions, behind a tough defense on Sunday. Seattle was good enough to come back and force overtime, but the Rams were able to stop Marshawn Lynch on 4th down in overtime to pull off the upset over their division rival.
