NBA Rankings - 22 Mar

The Clippers' winning streak ended on Monday at Denver, leaving them vulnerable at the top spot, and San Antonio took advantage last night, taking their 12th game in a row to take over at #1 for the first time in nearly two months. The Spurs face a real challenge to the streak today when they visit Golden State, but even a close loss could keep them at the top. Here are my full current rankings:

New York was the hottest team this week, even if they didn't look like it last night in a nailbiter against the horrible 76ers, but it came two nights after the Knicks knocked off the Indiana Pacers, which gave them 7 straight wins, and beating Philly gave them 8. This week they play 4 teams that are all currently out of the playoffs, so it is possible that they could have 12 straight wins by next week. Not likely, but they've been surprising lately.

Dallas has also been hot lately, winning by 23 in Oklahoma City on Sunday and going 3-1 on the week, with the lone blemish coming against Minnesota in overtime. In that game, Ricky Rubio had his 3rd career triple-double and Kevin Love scored 35 and hit the game winner, but Dallas came back with a win over Denver last night. This week they host both Oklahoma City and the Clippers, so they'll need to be playing their best.

Toronto was the coldest team this week, giving up the title of best team in the East after just one week. They lost to Phoenix at home to open the week, then lost twice more, both in overtime, to finish the week 1-3, the first time they've lost more than once in a week since the beginning of February. They've got another week full of easy games, but they'll need to play like they're the better team this week.
