Top 100 NBA Players of all Time - 2025 Update

With the end of the 2024-2025 NBA season last night, it's time for my annual update of the top 100 NBA players of all time. 3 new players joined the list this season, with Jayson Tatum jumping in during the first week of the season, Mike Conley climbing in late in the season, then falling out again when Trae Young passed him, then rejoining the top 100 during Minnesota's playoff run. Vince Carter, Walter Davis, and Shawn Kemp were the casualties of those 3 jumping in. Jayson Tatum reached #75 in his first season on the list, Anthony Davis reached the top 50, Giannis Antetokounmpo is now in the top 30, and Nikola Jokic is in the top 25. Next season, DeMar DeRozan should join the top 100 during the middle of the season, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has a very good chance at getting there late in the season. Others with a chance, each of which would probably need a strong playoff run, are Karl-Anthony Towns, Devin Booker, Rudy Gobert, and Donovan Mitchell, while Paul George and Kyle Lowry have a tiny chance of getting there. Also, both Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry have a chance at the all-time top 10 next season, but only 1 can make it. Here is the current list:

The Conference Finals begin tomorrow, with only 1 of the 3 teams that started out with the best odds is still alive, with Cleveland and Boston bowing out in round 2 while dealing with injuries. Here are each remaining team's odds of making the Finals and of winning the Finals, and the top 4 Finals MVP favorites, along with a backup choice for each team:

The Western Conference played out how I expected, so neither team's odds changed that much, but I expected the Celtics and Cavaliers to be the final teams in the East, so New York and Indiana have much better odds of reaching the Finals than they did a month ago.

The NBA Playoffs are starting this morning, now that the play-in tournament has ended, and the Oklahoma City Thunder are the biggest favorite I have seen in my time of predicting the playoffs. The top 2 seeds in the East have a chance as well, but it's pretty unlikely that the ultimate champion will come from any of the other 13 teams. One quick note: the Lakers odds throughout this post are probably lower than they should be. The team has had limited time together as presently constituted, and that means that much of their data consists of the first two-thirds of the season, in which they were playing at a play-in level, at best.
