NCAA Football Rankings - 9 Sep

The Alabama Crimson Tide again left no doubt as to which team should be #1 this week, and they are the only team in the country projected to finish without a loss. Among the teams moving up to challenge the Tide is Penn State, which was my #1 team last year, and dominated the Pitt Panthers this weekend on the road. Georgia, last season's runner-up, was also very impressive in dismantling South Carolina on the road, which pushed the Bulldogs up into the top 5 as well. Here are my full current rankings, with projected conference champs in bold:

  2. It is great to see rankings early in the season that reflect actual performance to the degree deemed possible, regardless of the very small sample size and the inherent chaos, however strange the position of some teams may be. But then, Appalachian State *could* turn out to be this year's big group of 5 surprise.
