The hottest team of the week has been the New York Knicks, who won two straight for the first time all season, and not only won, but blew away their competition. The beat both Brooklyn and Orlando by at least 30 points, and Carmelo Anthony had double-doubles in all three games they played. Will it last? They play only Eastern Conference foes in the next 10 days, so who knows how far this streak could extend.
Orlando continues to be the coldest team in the league, losing 3 times this week, including blowouts at the hands of Washington and New York, neither of which has played well so far this season. Early in the season the Magic looked like one of the top teams after winning 3 straight against good opponents, but they've only won 3 more since, with 11 losses mixed in.
Miami was almost as cold as their in-state rivals this week, losing 2 of three, with both losses coming by double digits against Eastern Conference teams not named the Pacers, which are games the defending champs should not lose. Their lone win came by a single point at home against the Bobcats, which hardly qualifies as a win.
