NBA MVP Rankings - 14 Jan

Things have changed a bit since I last posted my MVP rankings a few weeks ago, with most of the top players shifting positions and one dropping off the list completely. The rankings do take team winning percentage into account, though the players' performance still has the biggest impact. Here are my current MVP rankings, with previous rank in parentheses:

1. (3) Russell Westbrook - OKC - 30.8 P, 10.7 R, 10.5 A, 1.4 S, .424 FG, .319 3P, .820 FT

Westbrook is the first player in 55 years to have a triple-double average halfway through the season.

2. (2) James Harden - HOU - 28.6 P, 8.2 R, 11.7 A, 1.4 S, .443 FG, .348 3P, .849 FT

Harden had 53 points, 16 rebounds, and 17 assists on New Year's Eve, which tied him with Wilt for most points in a triple-double.

3. (4) LeBron James - CLE - 25.8 P, 7.8 R, 8.3 A, 1.4 S, .517 FG, .378 3P, .704 FT

In most seasons those would be runaway MVP stats, but this is no ordinary year.

4. (1) Kevin Durant - GSW - 26.0 P, 8.6 R, 4.7 A, 1.1 S, 1.7 B, .537 FG, .393 3P, .862 FT

Durant's been very good, but the Warriors don't look like the juggernaut they did a few weeks ago.

5. (6) DeMar DeRozan - TOR - 28.2 P, 5.4 R, 3.7 A, 1.3 S, .474 FG, .842 FT

DeRozan is putting up 31.6 PPG in January, but lags behind the leaders in other categories.

6. (10) Kawhi Leonard - SAS - 24.2 P, 5.7 R, 3.1 A, 1.9 S, .478 FG, .411 3P, .910 FT

The Spurs have had some of their best games lately, and Leonard is the biggest reason why.

7. (7) Giannis Antetokounmpo - MIL - 23.2 P, 8.7 R, 5.6 A, 1.8 S, 2.0 B, .533 FG, .779 FT

The Greek Freak has risen to superstar level quickly, but he still needs to keep the Bucks in the playoff race.

8. (5) Stephen Curry - GSW - 24.7 P, 4.3 R, 5.9 A, 1.7 S, .468 FG, .397 3P, .929 FT

It's not looking like Curry will join the exclusive 3-peat MVP club, with numbers down across the board.

9. (NR) Kyle Lowry - TOR - 22.4 P, 5.0 R, 7.2 A, 1.6 S, .478 FG, .445 3P, .830 FT

Lowry is leading the league in minutes, and Toronto could threaten Cleveland for the East title.

10. (9) Anthony Davis - NOP - 29.1 P, 12.2 R, 2.2 A, 1.4 S, 2.5 B, .495 FG, .796 FT

Davis is leading the league in blocks again with career-highs in the 3 major categories.

Honorable Mention: Kevin Love - CLE, Kyrie Irving - CLE, DeMarcus Cousins - SAC, Kemba Walker - CHA

Dropped Out: Jimmy Butler - CHI
