The NBA All-Star rosters have been announced, and for the most part the selections were very good, but there were still several snubs that have earned the right to be named an All-Star, as well as a couple of bench players who deserve to be starting. Here are my picks for this season's All-Star teams:
East
Starters
F - Giannis Antetokounmpo - MIL
F - LeBron James - CLE
F - Jimmy Butler - CHI
G - DeMar DeRozan - TOR
G - John Wall - WAS
Bench
F - Carmelo Anthony - NYK
F - Jabari Parker - MIL
F - Kevin Love - CLE
G - Kyle Lowry - TOR
G - Isaiah Thomas - BOS
G - Kemba Walker - CHA
G - Kyrie Irving - CLE
The only change I would make to the East starters is John Wall starting at point guard over Kyrie Irving. I would take Carmelo Anthony over Paul George on the bench, and Jabari Parker over Paul Millsap, although the margin between those two is razor-thin, so I don't have a major problem with Millsap's selection. The six guards selected for the East are perfect other than the switch at starter.
West
Starters
F - Kevin Durant - GSW
C - DeMarcus Cousins - SAC
C - Anthony Davis - NOP
G - Russell Westbrook - OKC
G - James Harden - HOU
Bench
F - Karl-Anthony Towns - MIN
F - Kawhi Leonard - SAS
C - Marc Gasol - MEM
G - Stephen Curry - GSW
G - Damian Lillard - POR
G - CJ McCollum - POR
G - Eric Bledsoe - PHX
The biggest snub on either All-Star team is Russell Westbrook being relegated to the bench, despite being the best player in the entire league. He should replace Steph Curry in the starting lineup, and DeMarcus Cousins should be starting over Kawhi Leonard, as he is the best center in the league. Karl-Anthony Towns is the best player not to be selected at all, and should be the first man off the bench for the West, replacing Draymond Green. Damian Lillard should also be a part of the team, replacing Klay Thompson, another Warrior who only made it due to the success of his team. DeAndre Jordan should have been left off the team, especially since the West already has 3 better centers on the roster, and should have been replaced by CJ McCollum, who is very deserving of a roster spot, like his backcourt teammate. Eric Bledsoe has been slightly better than Gordon Hayward so far this season, but it is not a major issue, as the team is slightly light at forward anyway.
