NFL Rankings - 4 Nov

The Denver Broncos were blown out on Sunday by New England, which allowed the Patriots to jump from #4 to #1 with the top record in the AFC and second-best in the entire league. There was a lot of movement all over the top 10, as there were piles of upsets and blowouts all over the league. Here are my updated rankings:

Miami's climb continued this week after a 37-0 shutout of San Diego, which knocked the Chargers clear out of the top 10 and probably from playoff contention. The Dolphins have won 3 straight, have only lost to top 12 teams, and beat New England in the season opener, although the Patriots have obviously improved since then. Unfortunately, the top two teams share a division, so one will be stuck as a wild card at the end of the season.

New Orleans has won 2 in a row for the first time this year, and both wins came over playoff teams from last year, with the latest being a 28-10 win at Carolina. They have a 3-game homestand coming up, and they have been perfect in Louisiana this year, so they could be 7-4 before long.

A few weeks ago, San Diego was 5-1 and ranked #2, but everything has fallen apart since. The Chargers have lost 3 straight to top 5 teams, but the losses have gotten bigger each time, and their last 3 wins are all against the bottom 8, so it's tough to tell how good they really are. The middle of the pack seems appropriate at this point.
