NBA Rankings - 8 Nov

It is now just over a week into the NBA season, and 3 teams, all in the West, have made it through unscathed to this point. Meanwhile, two teams, the 76ers and Lakers, have yet to win, and it could be a couple week before either one gets one in the win column. Here are my full rankings up to this point:

Golden State has played only 4 games thus far, 2 fewer than either of the other undefeated teams, but they have some quality wins. Their opening win over Sacramento, which was an 18-point blowout, looked like nothing at the time, but it turns out it is the Kings' only loss so far. The Warriors also won in Portland, who is #3 right now, and knocked off the Clippers, my preseason championship favorite. Tonight will determine who is really #1 when they head to Houston.

Houston, meanwhile, is 6-0 so far, and is coming off back-to-back wins over both of last year's Finals teams, but 3 of their first 4 wins came against the dregs of the league, in the form of Utah and winless Philly and LA. That's not to say the Rockets aren't good (they are ranked #2), but Golden State's strength of schedule has been much tougher to this point.

Portland is sitting at #3 despite being only 3-2, but both losses came against top 7 teams, and those 3 wins came by at least 17 points each. The last 2 wins came against preseason favorites Dallas and Cleveland, which didn't even seem to put up a fight as they were run over. The Trail Blazers are much better than the record so far shows.
