College Football Rankings - 23 Nov

None of last week's top 3 - Ole Miss, Alabama, and Baylor - played up to par yesterday, so the Georgia Bulldogs, who destroyed their SEC cupcake, took advantage and moved into the #1 spot vacated by the Rebels after they were shut out by Arkansas. The Bulldogs need Missouri to lose in order to make the SEC title game, but I think that will happen, and Georgia just may give Alabama a pretty good game. Here are this week's full rankings:

Mississippi State finally made a move upward this week, getting into the range where the polls have had them all season, and it all started with a 51-0 shutout of Vanderbilt yesterday. The other thing that really helped the Bulldogs' climb was their win over Arkansas 3 weeks ago, which is looking better each week, especially since they actually scored against the Razorbacks.

Since that close loss to Mississippi State, Arkansas has taken complete control, winning back-to-back games over ranked team in shutout fashion, taking down LSU 17-0 and Ole Miss, last week's #1 team, 30-0. This same team lost by a single point against Alabama earlier in the season, and all 5 losses came to teams that were AP top ten at the time of the loss, though Texas A&M and Auburn have started to slide a little lately.

Boise State joined the top 25 for the first time this season after drubbing the Wyoming Cowboys late last night, and it looks like the Broncos will end up as the MWC champions yet again this season, despite the fact that Colorado State has a better overall record. Because the two teams will likely end up tied at 7-1 in the conference, the tiebreaker will come down to the result of their game clear back in week 2, when Boise State handed the Rams their only loss of the season.

Pick of the Day

Kentucky

The Wildcats are ranked #1 nationally and beat #5 Kansas by 32 points this week, so a visit from the winless Montana State Bobcats would be a cakewalk for the Kentucky JV team.
