NCAA Football Rankings - 17 Nov

After Ohio State lost the top spot last week because of a strength of schedule hit, the same thing happened to Alabama this week, after they knocked off their annual late-season cupcake easily. The Buckeyes are back on top, with conference rival Penn State jumping back into the top 10 after a road blowout of Purdue, while South Carolina dropped out of the top 10 after narrowly winning against Missouri. Colorado took over as the favorite to win the Big 12, while Oregon remains the only team projected to finish undefeated. Here are my full current rankings:

  1. Hey man, I like checking your rankings. Question for you regarding your method. And I know, what I’m asking you has no bearing on anything, and my curiosity stems from my own biases, but how does a 5-6 New Mexico drop two spots after beating Washington St. and how are they behind three of the teams they beat?

    1. New Mexico actually went up two spots after beating Washington State, but the reason that they are still a little behind a couple of teams that they have beaten is that their strength of schedule is a bit lower than Air Force or San Diego State at this point, which isn't completely their fault, because they scheduled Auburn and Arizona in nonconference, but both ended up being much worse than expected, and each time those former opponents perform below expectations, it drags the Lobos down as well.
