NBA Rankings - 6 Dec

The NBA season is almost one quarter finished, and the Golden State Warriors have two fewer losses than any other team at this point, and they are riding an 11-game winning streak into their game with Chicago tonight. The Bulls are somewhat overrated, so I'm not picking them as the popular upset tonight, but they've got a better chance than anyone the Warriors have played in a while. Here are this week's full rankings:

The last team to beat the Warriors, San Antonio, has gone 9-1 in their last 10, with the biggest win coming last night in Memphis, where the Spurs pulled an upset on one of the favorites in the West. 38-year-old Tim Duncan had a triple-double of 14-10-10, and the Spurs proved that they are still one of the most likely title contenders.

My preseason pick, the Clippers, have finally come alive, winning 8 of their last 9, with the only loss coming in Memphis. Last week's schedule was pretty easy, but LA did what they had to, winning by 16, 26, and 28. The Clippers face 4 decent teams in the next week, but no real contenders, so they probably need to win all 4 to maintain their ranking.

The best of those opponents, Washington, went 4-0 this week, but only one of those games came against a team that is any good at all, the New Orleans Pelicans. While the Wizards are one of the best in the East, they just aren't quite on the same level as the Western powers, so a win over the Clippers would be huge.

Pick of the Day

Michigan State

The Spartans play Arkansas-Pine Bluff from the SWAC today, and it's a pretty easy pick. Michigan State's only loss was to Duke, currently #2, and the Golden Lions' lone win is over a 1-win CS Bakersfield squad.
