NFL Rankings - 2 Dec

New England lost to #2 Green Bay on Sunday, yet was able to maintain the top ranking for another week. The Patriots were 4 points better than the Packers prior to the game, and since they only lost by 5 on the road, they are still a point and a half better than the Packers on a neutral field. This doesn't change the fact that these two teams are the favorites to play in the Super Bowl in February, and round one was a great preview of what may be to come. Here are this week's full rankings:

Seattle just won their second straight division game by a score of 19-3, knocking out the 49ers in Santa Clara on Thanksgiving as they try to show that the NFC crown is not a foregone conclusion. The Seahawks will attempt to repeat the defensive showing of the past two weeks again on Sunday, but they will have to play great to do the same to the Eagles.

The Eagles beat a potential playoff team for the first time since week 2 on Thanksgiving when they went to Texas and beat the Cowboys in a matchup of the two teams tied for the NFC East lead prior to the game. Philadelphia is now in the driver's seat for the division, but still must host Seattle and Dallas in the next two weeks, which will show whether the last game was just a fluke.

The Saint Louis Rams have been improving all year, and they seem to play best when they host a good opponent, as evidenced by their three previous wins, which came against Seattle, San Francisco, and Denver. They finally played a bad team for the first time since week 2, and they threw the house at the visiting Raiders, setting a franchise record for first half points and shutting Oakland out 52-0.

Gonzaga

The Bulldogs are hosting SE Louisiana tonight, and they are one of the best teams in the country, so beating a bad team from a bad conference should be no problem.
