NFL Rankings - 9 Dec

The New England Patriots held on to the top spot for yet another week, winning in San Diego for their 8th victory in the past 9 games. Their final 3 games are all very winnable, with the Jets on the road and the Dolphins and Bills at home, and they've got a real shot at grabbing the top seed in the AFC, especially since they own the tiebreaker over Denver. Here are this week's full rankings:

The Saint Louis Rams moved up to #5 this week despite a losing record, and that it thanks to back-to-back shutouts, the first time any team has done that since 2009. Yes, the wins were both over teams in my bottom 4, but getting a shutout at all in the NFL is difficult, let alone 2 in a row, which has only been done twice in the last 13 years. They try for 3 straight on Thursday when they welcome Arizona to town.

Baltimore is back in the top 10 this week after a comfortable win in Miami, which needed the win to stay in the playoff chase. The Ravens were also helped by Cincinnati's loss, which gives Baltimore the lead in the chase for the AFC North crown, which they probably will not give up next week against Jacksonville.
