NFL Rankings - 28 Oct

The Denver Broncos held onto the top spot this week after winning their 4th straight game, this one by 14 points over the San Diego Chargers, who had been ranked #4 heading into the game, but were obviously not on the same level as the #1 team in the league. Their lone loss came in overtime at Seattle in week 4, and they are the only team to beat NFC-leading Arizona so far this year. Here are this week's full rankings:

The Broncos will have a test this week when they travel to New England, where the Patriots have caught on fire of late. They are also riding a 4-game winning streak, during which they have averaged nearly 40 points per game. This is one of the most likely times for the Broncos to lose again this season, along with a trip to Kansas City right after Thanksgiving.

The Miami Dolphins also climbed into the top 10 this week, partially based on their own 14-point road win, and partially on the strength of their 13-point win over New England to open the season. The Dolphins looked bad in losing to Kansas City in week 3, but nearly beat Green Bay a couple weeks later, so they are a little tough to pin down. They get the chance to prove they belong this week against San Diego.

Green Bay's 4-game winning streak ended on Sunday, and it wasn't even close. The Saints, who had struggled all season, controlled the game from start to finish, and sent the Packers into their bye on a bad note. The Bears better watch out in 2 weeks, playing against a big rival coming off a bye and looking to make up for an embarrassing loss.
