College Basketball Rankings - 30 Dec

The top two teams took the week off for Christmas, and since nobody behind them did anything incredible, they kept their spots for another week. Arizona and Louisville are making a move toward the top, but the Cowboys still lead the nation as the year changes. Here are my current full rankings:

Michigan State has been ranked in the top 10 all season by the voters, but it wasn't until they blew out New Orleans this week that they cracked my top 10. Their only win over a ranked team came early on against Kentucky, and they've lost to the Tar Heels, who are not ranked. Once they get into conference play they'll finally have the chance to prove themselves.

Utah also made a big move after a blowout this week, but they aren't getting the national recognition they deserve. The Utes beat the toughest team they faced so far, rival BYU, and their lone loss came at Boise State against a Bronco team that is sitting just outside the top 25. This is a team that could challenge for the Pac 12 title in a loaded conference.

San Diego State made the top 25 this week after yet another blowout, and the Aztecs resume is also quite nice. Their only loss came against Arizona, one of the favorites to win the NCAA title this year, and they beat both Creighton and Marquette in the Wooden Legacy tournament a month ago, and they are the best team in the always-competitive Mountain West.
