NFL Rankings and Weekend Predictions

Seattle needed overtime to beat the Houston Texans on Sunday while the Denver Broncos cruised once again, which caused a switch at the top again, with Peyton Manning leading the way with 16 touchdowns and no interceptions through 4 games, which puts him on pace for the most TD passes in a single season. Here are my current rankings for all 32 teams, along with each team's predicted final record:

Indianapolis moved into the top 5 this week after a 37-3 blowout in Jacksonville, which brought the Colts to 2-0 on the road this season, with an average final score of 32-5 in those wins. This weekend they host NFC-leading Seattle in the toughest matchup the Seahawks will face all year, and it wouldn't be a big surprise to see Andrew Luck win the battle of sophomore quarterbacks.

New England remained undefeated after 4 games, and even though none of those wins came against a team with a winning record, they keep finding ways to win when it comes to the fourth quarter. In 2 weeks they face New Orleans in a game that could feature 2 undefeated teams that have won Super Bowls with their current quarterbacks.

Kansas City is also undefeated still, which is especially impressive since they only won 2 games last season, which means they've already doubled last season's win total. 3 of their wins have come against NFC East teams, which is probably the worst division in the league, and the other came against Jacksonville, the worst team in the league, which is why the Chiefs are still the lowest-rated undefeated team in the league.

Tennessee is now in the top 10 as well, but it may not last very long. Not only are they facing Kansas City this weekend, they must do it without starting QB Jake Locker, who injured his ankle in their win over the Jets on Sunday. If he is able to return soon, the Titans should make the playoffs, just as I predicted in the preseason, but without Locker it may be difficult.
