NBA Rankings - 15 Nov

New York has yet to lose, but still gave up the top spot this week to a team that has been very impressive in victories over some tough teams lately. Detroit finally won a game, leaving only Washington with a goose egg in the win column, and it could be a while before they erase it. Here are my current league rankings, with teams grouped by similar level of performance.

30. (24) Sacramento (0-3) (2-6)

The Brooklyn Nets pulled off a very rare feat on Friday, winning by more than 30 points one game after losing by at least 30 points. They went undefeated this week, beating Orlando twice and Cleveland once, but they'll have to beat some teams of substance if they want to remain in the top 10 past this week. So far they are 0-2 against teams with winning records. Will that change tonight against Boston?

The Houston Rockets are playing much better than I expected coming into the season, and the pickup of James Harden has helped a lot, as the reigning Sixth Man of the Year is putting up 26.4 points per game. The Rockets did lose twice this week, but both came against top 4 teams, so their two victories along with the close losses propelled them up just outside the top 10.

Last week I called the Celtics overrated, so they went out and beat the Bucks, Bulls, and Jazz this week to prove me wrong. I still don't think they're playing at the level they been at since the Garnett trade, but they are showing signs of meshing their updated lineup, and they could end up being a dangerous team in the playoffs after all.

Philadelphia fell from grace this week, staring out ranked at #2, then falling all the way to #22 after losing back to back games, the first against a good Milwaukee team, and the second against a horrible Detroit team. Even worse, both losses came on their home court, which is especially strange after they swept through a 3-game road trip.
